As a professional website designer, I’ve been using the Divi theme for about a decade to build websites for small business owners. After using the Divi WordPress theme almost exclusively throughout that time, I still think Divi is the best thing since iced coffee. In this post, I’ll review the Divi theme, explain the pros and cons of using Divi, and tell you why I recommend it to just about anyone with a WordPress site.

What is Divi?
Divi is an extremely versatile and popular WordPress theme developed by Elegant Themes. It is known for its drag-and-drop page builder functionality, which allows users to easily create and customize websites without needing to write code. Some of the key features of Divi include a visual page builder, pre-built layouts, out of the box responsive design, many customization options, and ongoing support and updates by Elegant Themes.
The visual page builder allows users to create page layouts using a simple drag-and-drop editor. Users can add “modules” to their pages and posts such as text, images, sliders, buttons, forms, and more, and customize them to fit their design needs.
Divi offers a wide range of pre-designed layouts and templates for different types of websites, including business sites, portfolios, blogs, eCommerce stores, and more. These layouts can be easily imported and customized to quickly create a professional-looking website.
The theme is fully responsive, meaning that websites built with Divi automatically adjust and look great on all devices, including desktops, tablets, and smartphones.
Divi provides extensive customization options, allowing users to control every aspect of their website’s design, including colors, fonts, spacing, and more. Advanced users can also add custom CSS or JavaScript code to further customize their site. For designers, it’s easy to drop in custom elements and customize them to fit the look you’re after.
Elegant Themes provides excellent support and regular updates for the Divi theme, ensuring that users have access to the latest features and security patches.
Overall, Divi is a powerful and user-friendly WordPress theme that is suitable for both beginners and experienced web designers looking to create stunning websites with ease.
Is Divi a good theme for WordPress?
Yes, Divi is widely regarded as a good theme for WordPress because it’s easy to use, versatile, responsive, customizable and well supported by the team at Elegant Themes. Many designers and small business owners find Divi to be an excellent choice for building websites quickly and effectively without needing to code. Its regular updates, robust support, and active community further contribute to its reputation as a reliable and popular WordPress theme.
As a designer that’s used this theme as the framework to build websites across many industries, I haven’t found a theme that I like better. I’ve tried to use other themes to build websites and ended up regretting it later. The websites turned out fine but the builders weren’t as user-friendly, the support isn’t as reliable and the updates aren’t consistent. That being said, I choose Divi for WordPress every time.

What are the disadvantages of Divi theme?
Divi offers so many options that the theme can be a little bulky. Why does that matter? Well bulky can mean increased website load times and a speedy site can be just as important as a great-looking website. That being said, I haven’t noticed speed being an issue recently and there are a few simple ways to make sure your website loads quickly with Divi. First, is by selecting a good hosting plan from a trusted provider like Siteground or Bluehost. Hosting has made the biggest difference in how quickly my customized Divi websites load. Another option to improve website loading speeds is to use a WordPress caching plugin. However, it seems that Elegant Themes has been working to improve this aspect of the theme over time.
The other disadvantage is that learning how to use the Divi Theme builder can take some practice. There’s usually a learning curve when using any new tool, so Divi is no exception. The good news is that a little practice goes a long way. Once you start learning where to find the main options, using the Divi theme is fairly intuitive from there. When I build a new site for a client, I usually meet with them for a training session and in only an hour or two, they’re comfortable enough with the Divi theme to make most updates or edits on their own.
Is Divi still worth it?
From this website designer’s perspective – it’s definitely still worth it to use Divi. I use it for my own websites, for customizing websites for my customers, and I would recommend Divi to anyone with a WordPress website. Whether it’s a single website or you’re looking for a theme that you can use for many different clients, Divi is an amazing resource.
What is so special about Divi?
The Divi WordPress Theme makes designing a website for yourself or for your clients simpler, faster, and much more enjoyable. There are also some unique features that makes Divi a standout, including a seamless integration with WordPress, the extensive network of resources, and the consistent updates and upgrades.
Divi’s seamless integration with the WordPress platform provides a cohesive and user-friendly experience for website building and management. This integration streamlines workflows and allows users to leverage the full power of WordPress alongside Divi’s intuitive design capabilities, resulting in efficient and effective website development.
One of the standout features of Divi is its robust network of third-party plugins, child themes, and resources, which enhance its functionality and offer endless possibilities for customization. This rich ecosystem empowers users to create unique and professional websites tailored to their specific needs and preferences, setting Divi apart as a truly versatile and customizable WordPress theme.
Divi’s commitment to innovation and continuous improvement sets it apart in the WordPress theme market. The team behind Divi regularly releases updates with new features, improvements, and optimizations, ensuring that users have access to the latest tools and technologies to keep their websites modern, secure, and competitive in the ever-evolving online landscape. This dedication to innovation reinforces Divi’s reputation as a forward-thinking and reliable solution for WordPress website design.
How I Use the Divi Theme as a Professional Web Designer
The reason I use Divi so often is because of their drag and drop builder. When I build a website, I still typically design it from scratch, meaning that I start with a blank photoshop document, and once I have a design that the customer loves and approves, then I build it into a functioning WordPress website. The Divi Builder makes the build process significantly faster than coding every little detail from scratch.
I also love how I can “pass the torch” over to my customers to edit their websites after the launch. I will usually complete a training session to show them how to use the builder, and then they can take it from there. That gives the website owner and their team the freedom to make their own changes and updates without having to rely on someone else.
